Surah Ad-Dukhaan, Verse 17

وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ
Word by word
۞ وَلَقَدْ walaqad And certainly فَتَنَّا fatannā We tried قَبْلَهُمْ qablahum before them قَوْمَ qawma (the) people فِرْعَوْنَ fir'ʿawna (of) Firaun وَجَآءَهُمْ wajāahum and came to them رَسُولٌۭ rasūlun a Messenger كَرِيمٌ karīmun noble
Transliteration
Walaqad fatanna qablahum qawmafirAAawna wajaahum rasoolun kareem
Translations

And verily We tried before them Pharaoh's folk, when there came unto them a noble messenger,
