Quran 45:16

Surah Al-Jaathiya, Verse 16

وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْحُكْمَ وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ وَرَزَقْنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَفَضَّلْنَٰهُمْ عَلَى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

Word by word

وَلَقَدْ walaqad And certainly ءَاتَيْنَا ātaynā We gave بَنِىٓ banī (the) Children of Israel إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ is'rāīla (the) Children of Israel ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ l-kitāba the Book وَٱلْحُكْمَ wal-ḥuk'ma and the wisdom وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ wal-nubuwata and the Prophethood وَرَزَقْنَـٰهُم warazaqnāhum and We provided them مِّنَ mina of ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ l-ṭayibāti the good things وَفَضَّلْنَـٰهُمْ wafaḍḍalnāhum and We preferred them عَلَى ʿalā over ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ l-ʿālamīna the worlds

Transliteration

Walaqad atayna banee isra-eelaalkitaba walhukma wannubuwwatawarazaqnahum mina attayyibati wafaddalnahumAAala alAAalameen

Translations

And verily we gave the Children of Israel the Scripture and the Command and the Prophethood, and provided them with good things and favoured them above (all) peoples;

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

We did aforetime grant to the Children of Israel the Book the Power of Command, and Prophethood; We gave them, for Sustenance, things good and pure; and We favoured them above the nations.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يذكر تعالى ما أنعم به على بني إسرائيل من إنزال الكتب عليهم وإرسال الرسل إليهم ، وجعله الملك فيهم ; ولهذا قال : ( ولقد آتينا بني إسرائيل الكتاب والحكم والنبوة ورزقناهم من الطيبات ) أي : من المآكل والمشارب ، ( وفضلناهم على العالمين ) أي : في زمانهم .
