Quran 45:18
Surah Al-Jaathiya, Verse 18

ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَٰكَ عَلَىٰ شَرِيعَةٍ مِّنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ فَٱتَّبِعْهَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Word by word
ثُمَّ thumma Then جَعَلْنَـٰكَ jaʿalnāka We put you عَلَىٰ ʿalā on شَرِيعَةٍۢ sharīʿatin an ordained way مِّنَ mina of ٱلْأَمْرِ l-amri the matter فَٱتَّبِعْهَا fa-ittabiʿ'hā so follow it وَلَا walā and (do) not تَتَّبِعْ tattabiʿ follow أَهْوَآءَ ahwāa (the) desires ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna (of) those who لَا lā (do) not يَعْلَمُونَ yaʿlamūna know
Transliteration
Thumma jaAAalnaka AAalashareeAAatin mina al-amri fattabiAAha walatattabiAA ahwaa allatheena la yaAAlamoon
Translations
Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall
And now have We set thee (O Muhammad) on a clear road of (Our) commandment; so follow it, and follow not the whims of those who know not.
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
Then We put thee on the (right) Way of Religion: so follow thou that (Way), and follow not the desires of those who know not.
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
ولهذا قال : ( ثم جعلناك على شريعة من الأمر فاتبعها ) أي : اتبع ما أوحي إليك من ربك لا إله إلا هو ، وأعرض عن المشركين ،
