Quran 45:19

Surah Al-Jaathiya, Verse 19

إِنَّهُمْ لَن يُغْنُوا۟ عَنكَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ وَٱللَّهُ وَلِىُّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

Word by word

إِنَّهُمْ innahum Indeed, they لَن lan never يُغْنُوا۟ yugh'nū will avail عَنكَ ʿanka you مِنَ mina against ٱللَّهِ l-lahi Allah شَيْـًۭٔا ۚ shayan (in) anything وَإِنَّ wa-inna And indeed ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ l-ẓālimīna the wrongdoers بَعْضُهُمْ baʿḍuhum some of them أَوْلِيَآءُ awliyāu (are) allies بَعْضٍۢ ۖ baʿḍin (of) others وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu and Allah وَلِىُّ waliyyu (is the) Protector ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ l-mutaqīna (of) the righteous

Transliteration

Innahum lan yughnoo AAanka mina Allahishay-an wa-inna aththalimeena baAAduhumawliyao baAAdin wallahu waliyyualmuttaqeen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Lo! they can avail thee naught against Allah. And lo! as for the wrong-doers, some of them are friends of others; and Allah is the Friend of those who ward off (evil).

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

They will be of no use to thee in the sight of Allah: it is only Wrong-doers (that stand as) protectors, one to another: but Allah is the Protector of the Righteous.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقال هاهنا : ( ولا تتبع أهواء الذين لا يعلمون إنهم لن يغنوا عنك من الله شيئا وإن الظالمين بعضهم أولياء بعض ) أي : وماذا تغني عنهم ولايتهم لبعضهم بعضا ، فإنهم لا يزيدونهم إلا خسارا ودمارا وهلاكا ، ( والله ولي المتقين ) ، وهو تعالى يخرجهم من الظلمات إلى النور ، والذين كفروا أولياؤهم الطاغوت يخرجونهم من النور إلى الظلمات .
