Quran 47:2

Surah Muhammad, Verse 2

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَءَامَنُوا۟ بِمَا نُزِّلَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ كَفَّرَ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَأَصْلَحَ بَالَهُمْ

Word by word

وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhīna And those who ءَامَنُوا۟ āmanū believe وَعَمِلُوا۟ waʿamilū and do ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ l-ṣāliḥāti righteous deeds وَءَامَنُوا۟ waāmanū and believe بِمَا bimā in what نُزِّلَ nuzzila is revealed عَلَىٰ ʿalā to مُحَمَّدٍۢ muḥammadin Muhammad وَهُوَ wahuwa and it ٱلْحَقُّ l-ḥaqu (is) the truth مِن min from رَّبِّهِمْ ۙ rabbihim their Lord كَفَّرَ kaffara He will remove عَنْهُمْ ʿanhum from them سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ sayyiātihim their misdeeds وَأَصْلَحَ wa-aṣlaḥa and improve بَالَهُمْ bālahum their condition

Transliteration

Wallatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati waamanoo bimanuzzila AAala muhammadin wahuwa alhaqqu minrabbihim kaffara AAanhum sayyi-atihim waaslahabalahum

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And those who believe and do good works and believe in that which is revealed unto Muhammad - and it is the truth from their Lord - He riddeth them of their ill-deeds and improveth their state.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

But those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and believe in the (Revelation) sent down to Muhammad - for it is the Truth from their Lord,- He will remove from them their ills and improve their condition.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال : ( والذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات ) أي : آمنت قلوبهم وسرائرهم ، وانقادت جوارحهم وبواطنهم وظواهرهم ، ( وآمنوا بما نزل على محمد ) ، عطف خاص على عام ، وهو دليل على أنه شرط في صحة الإيمان بعد بعثته صلوات الله وسلامه عليه .

وقوله : ( وهو الحق من ربهم ) جملة معترضة حسنة ; ولهذا قال : ( كفر عنهم سيئاتهم وأصلح بالهم ) قال ابن عباس : أي أمرهم . وقال مجاهد : شأنهم . وقال قتادة وابن زيد : حالهم . والكل متقارب . وقد جاء في حديث تشميت العاطس : " يهديكم الله ويصلح بالكم " .
