Quran 47:9
Surah Muhammad, Verse 9

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَرِهُوا۟ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
Word by word
ذَٰلِكَ dhālika That بِأَنَّهُمْ bi-annahum (is) because they كَرِهُوا۟ karihū hate مَآ mā what أَنزَلَ anzala Allah has revealed ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah has revealed فَأَحْبَطَ fa-aḥbaṭa so He has made worthless أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ aʿmālahum their deeds
Transliteration
Thalika bi-annahum karihoo maanzala Allahu faahbata aAAmalahum
Translations
Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall
That is because they are averse to that which Allah hath revealed, therefor maketh He their actions fruitless.
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
That is because they hate the Revelation of Allah; so He has made their deeds fruitless.
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
ولهذا قال : ( ذلك بأنهم كرهوا ما أنزل الله ) أي : لا يريدونه ولا يحبونه ، ( فأحبط أعمالهم )
