Quran 5:113

Surah Al-Maaida, Verse 113

قَالُوا۟ نُرِيدُ أَن نَّأْكُلَ مِنْهَا وَتَطْمَئِنَّ قُلُوبُنَا وَنَعْلَمَ أَن قَدْ صَدَقْتَنَا وَنَكُونَ عَلَيْهَا مِنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ

Word by word

قَالُوا۟ qālū They said نُرِيدُ nurīdu We wish أَن an that نَّأْكُلَ nakula we eat مِنْهَا min'hā from it وَتَطْمَئِنَّ wataṭma-inna and satisfy قُلُوبُنَا qulūbunā our hearts وَنَعْلَمَ wanaʿlama and we know أَن an that قَدْ qad certainly صَدَقْتَنَا ṣadaqtanā you have spoken the truth to us وَنَكُونَ wanakūna and we be عَلَيْهَا ʿalayhā over it مِنَ mina among ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ l-shāhidīna the witnesses

Transliteration

Qaloo nureedu an na/kula minhawatatma-inna quloobuna wanaAAlama an qad sadaqtanawanakoona AAalayha mina ashshahideen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(They said:) We wish to eat thereof, that we may satisfy our hearts and know that thou hast spoken truth to us, and that thereof we may be witnesses.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

They said: "We only wish to eat thereof and satisfy our hearts, and to know that thou hast indeed told us the truth; and that we ourselves may be witnesses to the miracle."

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

( قالوا نريد أن نأكل منها ) أي : نحن محتاجون إلى الأكل منها ( وتطمئن قلوبنا ) إذا شاهدنا نزولها رزقا لنا من السماء ( ونعلم أن قد صدقتنا ) أي : ونزداد إيمانا بك وعلما برسالتك ( ونكون عليها من الشاهدين ) أي : ونشهد أنها آية من عند الله ، ودلالة وحجة على نبوتك وصدق ما جئت به .
