Quran 5:16

Surah Al-Maaida, Verse 16

يَهْدِى بِهِ ٱللَّهُ مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ رِضْوَٰنَهُۥ سُبُلَ ٱلسَّلَٰمِ وَيُخْرِجُهُم مِّنَ ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ بِإِذْنِهِۦ وَيَهْدِيهِمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

Word by word

يَهْدِى yahdī Guides بِهِ bihi with it ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah مَنِ mani (those) who ٱتَّبَعَ ittabaʿa seek رِضْوَٰنَهُۥ riḍ'wānahu His pleasure سُبُلَ subula (to the) ways ٱلسَّلَـٰمِ l-salāmi (of) the peace وَيُخْرِجُهُم wayukh'rijuhum and brings them out مِّنَ mina from ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ l-ẓulumāti the darknessess إِلَى ilā to ٱلنُّورِ l-nūri the light بِإِذْنِهِۦ bi-idh'nihi by His permission وَيَهْدِيهِمْ wayahdīhim and guides them إِلَىٰ ilā to صِرَٰطٍۢ ṣirāṭin (the) way مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ mus'taqīmin (the) straight

Transliteration

Yahdee bihi Allahu mani ittabaAAa ridwanahusubula assalami wayukhrijuhum mina aththulumatiila annoori bi-ithnihi wayahdeehim ilasiratin mustaqeem

Translations

Whereby Allah guideth him who seeketh His good pleasure unto paths of peace. He bringeth them out of darkness unto light by His decree, and guideth them unto a straight path.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Wherewith Allah guideth all who seek His good pleasure to ways of peace and safety, and leadeth them out of darkness, by His will, unto the light,- guideth them to a path that is straight.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

فقال " يهدي به الله من اتبع رضوانه سبل السلام "أي : طرق النجاة والسلامة ومناهج الاستقامة ( ويخرجهم من الظلمات إلى النور بإذنه ويهديهم إلى صراط مستقيم ) أي : ينجيهم من المهالك ، ويوضح لهم أبين المسالك فيصرف عنهم المحذور ، ويحصل لهم أنجب الأمور ، وينفي عنهم الضلالة ، ويرشدهم إلى أقوم حالة .
