Quran 5:85

Surah Al-Maaida, Verse 85

فَأَثَٰبَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا قَالُوا۟ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

Word by word

فَأَثَـٰبَهُمُ fa-athābahumu So rewarded them ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah بِمَا bimā for what قَالُوا۟ qālū they said جَنَّـٰتٍۢ jannātin (with) Gardens تَجْرِى tajrī flows مِن min from تَحْتِهَا taḥtihā underneath them ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ l-anhāru the rivers خَـٰلِدِينَ khālidīna will abide forever فِيهَا ۚ fīhā in it وَذَٰلِكَ wadhālika And that جَزَآءُ jazāu (is the) reward ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ l-muḥ'sinīna (of) the good-doers

Transliteration

Faathabahumu Allahu bimaqaloo jannatin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu khalideena feeha wathalikajazao almuhsineen

Translations

Allah hath rewarded them for that their saying - Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide for ever. That is the reward of the good.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

And for this their prayer hath Allah rewarded them with gardens, with rivers flowing underneath,- their eternal home. Such is the recompense of those who do good.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ولهذا قال تعالى ههنا : ( فأثابهم الله بما قالوا جنات تجري من تحتها الأنهار ) أي : فجازاهم على إيمانهم وتصديقهم واعترافهم بالحق ( جنات تجري من تحتها الأنهار خالدين فيها ) أي : ساكنين فيها أبدا ، لا يحولون ولا يزولون ( وذلك جزاء المحسنين ) أي : في اتباعهم الحق وانقيادهم له حيث كان ، وأين كان ، ومع من كان .
