Surah Adh-Dhaariyat, Verse 36

فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
Word by word
فَمَا famā But not وَجَدْنَا wajadnā We found فِيهَا fīhā therein غَيْرَ ghayra other than بَيْتٍۢ baytin a house مِّنَ mina of ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ l-mus'limīna the Muslims
Transliteration
Fama wajadna feehaghayra baytin mina almuslimeen

But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah).

But We found not there any just (Muslim) persons except in one house:
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
( فما وجدنا فيها غير بيت من المسلمين ) احتج بهذه [ الآية ] من ذهب إلى رأي المعتزلة ، ممن لا يفرق بين مسمى الإيمان والإسلام ; لأنه أطلق عليهم المؤمنين والمسلمين . وهذا الاستدلال ضعيف ; لأن هؤلاء كانوا قوما مؤمنين ، وعندنا أن كل مؤمن مسلم لا ينعكس ، فاتفق الاسمان هاهنا لخصوصية الحال ، ولا يلزم ذلك في كل حال .
