Surah Adh-Dhaariyat, Verse 53

أَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِهِۦ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ

أَتَوَاصَوْا۟ atawāṣaw Have they transmitted it to them بِهِۦ ۚ bihi Have they transmitted it to them بَلْ bal Nay هُمْ hum they قَوْمٌۭ qawmun (are) a people طَاغُونَ ṭāghūna transgressing
Transliteration
Atawasaw bihi bal hum qawmun taghoon
Translations
Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall
Have they handed down (the saying) as an heirloom one unto another? Nay, but they are froward folk.
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
Is this the legacy they have transmitted, one to another? Nay, they are themselves a people transgressing beyond bounds!
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
قال الله تعالى : ( أتواصوا به ) أي : أوصى بعضهم بعضا بهذه المقالة ؟ " ( بل هم قوم طاغون ) أي : لكن هم قوم طغاة ، تشابهت قلوبهم ، فقال متأخرهم كما قال متقدمهم .
