Quran 61:11

Surah As-Saff, Verse 11

تُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتُجَٰهِدُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ بِأَمْوَٰلِكُمْ وَأَنفُسِكُمْ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

Word by word

تُؤْمِنُونَ tu'minūna Believe بِٱللَّهِ bil-lahi in Allah وَرَسُولِهِۦ warasūlihi and His Messenger وَتُجَـٰهِدُونَ watujāhidūna and strive فِى fī in سَبِيلِ sabīli (the) way ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (of) Allah بِأَمْوَٰلِكُمْ bi-amwālikum with your wealth وَأَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ wa-anfusikum and your lives ذَٰلِكُمْ dhālikum That خَيْرٌۭ khayrun (is) better لَّكُمْ lakum for you إِن in if كُنتُمْ kuntum you تَعْلَمُونَ taʿlamūna know

Transliteration

Tu/minoona billahiwarasoolihi watujahidoona fee sabeeli Allahi bi-amwalikumwaanfusikum thalikum khayrun lakum in kuntum taAAlamoon

Translations

Ye should believe in Allah and His messenger, and should strive for the cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives. That is better for you, if ye did but know.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

That ye believe in Allah and His Messenger, and that ye strive (your utmost) in the Cause of Allah, with your property and your persons: That will be best for you, if ye but knew!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

( تؤمنون بالله ورسوله وتجاهدون في سبيل الله بأموالكم وأنفسكم ذلكم خير لكم إن كنتم تعلمون ) أي : من تجارة الدنيا ، والكد لها ، والتصدي لها وحدها .
