Quran 64:9

Surah At-Taghaabun, Verse 9

يَوْمَ يَجْمَعُكُمْ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْجَمْعِ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ ٱلتَّغَابُنِ وَمَن يُؤْمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ وَيَعْمَلْ صَٰلِحًا يُكَفِّرْ عَنْهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِۦ وَيُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

Word by word

يَوْمَ yawma (The) Day يَجْمَعُكُمْ yajmaʿukum He will assemble you لِيَوْمِ liyawmi for (the) Day ٱلْجَمْعِ ۖ l-jamʿi (of) the Assembly ذَٰلِكَ dhālika that يَوْمُ yawmu (will be the) Day ٱلتَّغَابُنِ ۗ l-taghābuni (of) mutual loss and gain وَمَن waman And whoever يُؤْمِنۢ yu'min believes بِٱللَّهِ bil-lahi in Allah وَيَعْمَلْ wayaʿmal and does صَـٰلِحًۭا ṣāliḥan righteous deeds يُكَفِّرْ yukaffir He will remove عَنْهُ ʿanhu from him سَيِّـَٔاتِهِۦ sayyiātihi his evil deeds وَيُدْخِلْهُ wayud'khil'hu and He will admit him جَنَّـٰتٍۢ jannātin (to) Gardens تَجْرِى tajrī flow مِن min from تَحْتِهَا taḥtihā underneath it ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ l-anhāru the rivers خَـٰلِدِينَ khālidīna abiding فِيهَآ fīhā therein أَبَدًۭا ۚ abadan forever ذَٰلِكَ dhālika That ٱلْفَوْزُ l-fawzu (is) the success ٱلْعَظِيمُ l-ʿaẓīmu the great

Transliteration

Yawma yajmaAAukum liyawmi aljamAAi thalikayawmu attaghabuni waman yu/min billahiwayaAAmal salihan yukaffir AAanhu sayyi-atihiwayudkhilhu jannatin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu khalideena feeha abadan thalikaalfawzu alAAatheem

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

The day when He shall gather you unto the Day of Assembling, that will be a day of mutual disillusion. And whoso believeth in Allah and doeth right, He will remit from him his evil deeds and will bring him unto Gardens underneath which rivers flow, therein to abide for ever. That is the supreme triumph.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

The Day that He assembles you (all) for a Day of Assembly,- that will be a Day of mutual loss and gain (among you), and those who believe in Allah and work righteousness,- He will remove from them their ills, and He will admit them to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, to dwell therein for ever: that will be the Supreme Achievement.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( يوم يجمعكم ليوم الجمع ) وهو يوم القيامة ، سمي بذلك لأنه يجمع فيه الأولون والآخرون في صعيد واحد ، يسمعهم الداعي ، وينفذهم البصر ، كما قال تعالى : ( ذلك يوم مجموع له الناس وذلك يوم مشهود ) [ هود : 103 ] وقال تعالى : ( قل إن الأولين والآخرين لمجموعون إلى ميقات يوم معلوم ) [ الواقعة : 49 ، 50 ]

وقوله : ( ذلك يوم التغابن ) قال ابن عباس : هو اسم من أسماء يوم القيامة . وذلك أن أهل الجنة يغبنون أهل النار . وكذا قال قتادة ، ومجاهد .

وقال مقاتل بن حيان : لا غبن أعظم من أن يدخل هؤلاء إلى الجنة ، ويذهب بأولئك إلى النار .
