Quran 7:97
Surah Al-A'raaf, Verse 97

أَفَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ أَن يَأْتِيَهُم بَأْسُنَا بَيَٰتًا وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ
Word by word
أَفَأَمِنَ afa-amina Then did feel secure أَهْلُ ahlu (the) people ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ l-qurā (of) the cities أَن an that يَأْتِيَهُم yatiyahum comes to them بَأْسُنَا basunā Our punishment بَيَـٰتًۭا bayātan (at) night وَهُمْ wahum while they نَآئِمُونَ nāimūna (were) asleep
Transliteration
Afaamina ahlu alqura an ya/tiyahumba/suna bayatan wahum na-imoon
Translations

Are the people of the townships then secure from the coming of Our wrath upon them as a night-raid while they sleep?

Did the people of the towns feel secure against the coming of Our wrath by night while they were asleep?
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
م قال تعالى مخوفا ومحذرا من مخالفة أوامره ، والتجرؤ على زواجره : ( أفأمن أهل القرى ) أي : الكافرة ( أن يأتيهم بأسنا ) أي : عذابنا ونكالنا ، ( بياتا ) أي : ليلا ( وهم نائمون)
