Quran 9:88

Surah At-Tawba, Verse 88

لَٰكِنِ ٱلرَّسُولُ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ جَٰهَدُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱلْخَيْرَٰتُ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

Word by word

لَـٰكِنِ lākini But ٱلرَّسُولُ l-rasūlu the Messenger وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhīna and those who ءَامَنُوا۟ āmanū believed مَعَهُۥ maʿahu with him جَـٰهَدُوا۟ jāhadū strove بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ bi-amwālihim with their wealth وَأَنفُسِهِمْ ۚ wa-anfusihim and their lives وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ wa-ulāika And those لَهُمُ lahumu for them ٱلْخَيْرَٰتُ ۖ l-khayrātu (are) the good things وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ wa-ulāika and those هُمُ humu they ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ l-muf'liḥūna (are) the successful ones

Transliteration

Lakini arrasoolu wallatheenaamanoo maAAahu jahadoo bi-amwalihimwaanfusihim waola-ika lahumu alkhayratu waola-ikahumu almuflihoon

Translations

But the messenger and those who believe with him strive with their wealth and their lives. Such are they for whom are the good things. Such are they who are the successful.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

But the Messenger, and those who believe with him, strive and fight with their wealth and their persons: for them are (all) good things: and it is they who will prosper.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

لما ذكر تعالى ذم المنافقين ، بين ثناء المؤمنين ، وما لهم في آخرتهم ، فقال : ( لكن الرسول والذين آمنوا معه جاهدوا ) إلى آخر الآيتين من بيان حالهم ومآلهم .

وقوله : ( وأولئك لهم الخيرات ) أي : في الدار الآخرة ، في جنات الفردوس والدرجات العلى .
