Surah Al-Qalam, Verse 31

قَالُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَٰغِينَ

قَالُوا۟ qālū They said يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ yāwaylanā O woe to us إِنَّا innā Indeed, we كُنَّا kunnā [we] were طَـٰغِينَ ṭāghīna transgressors
Transliteration
Qaloo ya waylana innakunna tagheen
Translations

They said: Alas for us! In truth we were outrageous.
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
They said: "Alas for us! We have indeed transgressed!
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
( قالوا يا ويلنا إنا كنا طاغين ) أي : اعتدينا وبغينا وطغينا وجاوزنا الحد حتى أصابنا ما أصابنا
